"Our hearing today has been about two cases, the Tillman case and the Lynch case, and in both cases, it seems like we have - we say deceptive - misleading information - it wasn't misleading information, we have false information that was put out to the American people. Stories that were fabricated and made up.

In the case of specialist Bryan O'Neal, his statement was doctored. It was actually rewritten by somebody. These aren't things done by mistake, there had to be a conscious intent to put a story out and keep with that story and eliminate evidence to the contrary and distort the record. In the case of Jessica Lynch, we have the Washington Post story saying they were told by government officials. So it was attributed in the Post to government officials and what we have is a very clear deliberate abuse, intentionally done. Why is it so hard to find out who did it? Why is it so hard to find out who's responsible and hold them accountable?" - Rep. Henry Waxman, Oversight and Government Reform Chairman

US Navy Seal Stephen White was Pat Tillman's friend and gave a eulogy at the May 2004 memorial service. White was put in the position of unknowingly telling the government's lie about how Pat Tillman died, "My role as far as at the memorial - it's a horrible thing that happened with Pat. I'm the guy that told America how he died basically at that memorial and it was incorrect. That does not sit well with me."

"With tears in their eyes, Pat Tillman's furious family accused the government yesterday of turning his tragic death by friendly fire into a heroic fairy tale.

Struggling to contain his anger, Kevin Tillman said the government's publicity stunt made a mockery of his brother's patriotic decision to spurn a lucrative NFL contract and enlist in the Army to serve his country." - They told us lies about our Pat

"Waxman's staff said the Pentagon resisted until Monday letting O'Neal and White testify." - Witnesses at Tillman hearing: military misled the nation

"Why American media has chosen party line regurgitation over critical investigation is a subject that most press outlets prefer not to give a forum to, so Americans need to do their own research among useful publications that are available at libraries and bookstores. An interesting study into the phenomenon has been published by Daniel Hallin in The Uncensored War, which observes that journalists had "a great deal of information available which contradicted the official account (of the Gulf of Tonkin events); it simply wasn't used. The day before the first incident, Hanoi had protested the attacks on its territory by Laotian aircraft and South Vietnamese gunboats."" - War Lies and the Compliant Media
